Situated along Oregon Route 62 and the Rogue River in the Rogue River National Forest, the scenic community of Prospect is the perfect place from which to embark on an outdoor adventure. Several cascading waterfalls are located in the area, including Barr Creek Falls and Mill Creek Falls – both of which can be reached via a trailhead located along Mill Creek Drive. Another small waterfall can be found at “The Peninsula,” a favorite local swimming hole. The breath-taking Prospect State Scenic Viewpoint is also nearby.
Though the region’s mild climate and beautiful scenery make outdoor recreation fun all year long, summers here are particularly enjoyable. In July, the community of Prospect hosts an airplane “fly-in.” August brings a Timber Carnival and Jamboree. The annual Mill Creek Memorial festival features live music, carnival games, a parade, and a flag retirement ceremony. The season ends the last weekend of September with Prospect Hotel’s two-day-long Music in the Mountains festival.
