Gold Hill is a small city in Southern Oregon that is most famously known for its popular roadside attraction, the Oregon Vortex. Native Americans knew the Vortex, an area of strange angles and optical illusions, as “The Forbidden Ground,” because animals would refuse to go there. Located on the banks of the Rogue River, the city of Gold Hill also is well known for its river rafting and mining-town heritage.
Like all of the communities in Oregon’s Rogue Valley, Gold Hill real estate offers convenient access to some of the region’s best recreational opportunities. With its location along I-5, it also makes it easy to travel to and from many of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular cities, including Roseburg and Eugene to the north, and Medford and Ashland to the south. Approximately 1,200 people call Gold Hill home.
